The other night we had a family Christmas movie night. After Joshua ate, brushed his teeth and got dressed in his pajama's, we sat down and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It was so fun! Joshua is finally getting to the point where he gives me little bits of normalcy, lol. He sat on the couch next to me for the first half of the movie. Then he had to get up to run around and dance to the singing. It was a special night for me, even though Nick fell asleep at the beginning. He was still home from having his wisdom teeth removed. He tried to be a good sport, but he couldn't help it. He literally was in pain and slept for a week. Anyways, it was a good night and Joshua really enjoyed it. I love to see him excited about things! We can't wait until he can speak and comprehend normally. We have so many things planned to do!
Given the Holiday season, we pulled out the Tom Hanks version of The Polar Express on DVD. It quickly became Joshua's favorite thing to watch. Goodbye Imagination Movers and Shrek! He is facinated by it and usually asks to watch it at bedtime. It is so funny because he picked up a couple words just from watching this movie. He started saying, "All Aboard," all the time! It is so cute. He puts his hand up to his mouth and says it, as if he is the conductor shouting it. At first it was just the gesture that we responded too, but now the words are actually become very clear when he says them. This morning he was standing in the kitchen and I was sitting on the living room floor. I asked him if he wanted The Polar Express on. He then assured me with a loud and fully recognizable, "All Aboard." It was awesome! He would say it and then I would say it and we kept going back and forth like that. Every time I could perfectly understand him. I wish I could get this on film. I still need to upload Halloween pictures and I have some good footage of Joshua riding his fire truck. He is the Evil Knievel of Power Wheeling, lol. I'll be working on those.

These are some pictures and a real quick video of Joshua on the ice at Germain Arena. Nannu and Nanna take him on Saturday's for toddler lessons every once in a while. Aunt Samantha helps him skate too. Right now he is on double blades until he gets comfortable enough to wear his skates. His real skates are so big that he can't even stand up, but they are adorable. He is currently working on learning to march on the ice so he marches at home sometimes too.

While waiting for my Trigonometry class to begin today, a kid from my class, who I've never really spoken to before, turned to me and said, "your shoe is untied." Well, joke was on me. I looked down and saw that I was wearing flip flops, as usual. So I should have known right? Ha ha. But, that isn't even the best part... Not even 10 minutes later, I sat down at my desk and one of my flip flops broke. So I had to go the whole class, getting up and down, with one bare foot! Now that is embarrassing. Even better, after class I had to walk the entire school and parking lot with one bare foot!!! More than half of that walk was on a black top in he Florida sun! So, today was a good day, ha ha. By the time I got to my car my foot was black and hot and my hip was screwed up from walking uneven that entire time. It's a classic Melanie moment :)

Joshua is so comfortable right now that he is voluntarily laying on our bed, propped up on a pillow, watching Shrek. He has the sweetest, most content look on his face. He's been in the same position for about ten minutes and he doesn't even care if we are in the room with him. How nice for him!

Today Joshua's mission is to empty out each individual cabinet in my kitchen! First he took out every glass vase we own and then he moved onto the large pots and pans. I currently have two tupperware containers atop a stainless steel pot on my living room coffee table, lol. He is refusing to eat for his dad right now because he just found his way into some pancake mix from our spiral pantry. I guess boys will be boys!

Before I forget, I wanted to write down Joshua's latest entertainment. Last Christmas his Nannu & Nanna got him a Power Wheel fire truck. You have to push a little red button that is on the steering wheel and you can ride this thing anywhere. It lets you steer and all. Well, last year he wasn't developmentally coordinated to use it properly. But, just recently he has learned to push the button for long increments and he can even steer it where he wants it to go. For instance, Josh drives this thing through my kitchen, around my island, and then steers it through my living room and around my couch! It's nuts! When he gets stuck or runs into something, I taught him to get out and "pull his latter". The fire truck has a little yellow latter on the back and he can just pull it away enough to get back in and go again. It is so cool. The best part of it all is that we've been catching him standing up on the seat of the fire truck while he is pushing the button and steering it around the house! LOL. He is our carefree kid. No worries and no sense of what will hurt him. He is too cool :) I am dying to catch this on tape or picture.

I am going to start off with one of my most special gifts. My mom recently took Joshua to the Sears portrait studio as a gift, not only for Joshua, but for dad's and my birthday. The two girls there were awesome! We had a 10:30 AM appointment and they didn't have another booking until 1:30 PM. So, they spent a lot of time with us and let us do whatever we wanted!! It turned out better than we could have imagined. This was Joshua's first time being photographed professionally. He was such a blast. We changed him about 10 different times and he had a ball. You should have seen us walking through the mall with all our gear in tow. It was hilarious. I'm posting some of the pictures here.
